The first chapter of SPELLBENT now available online
My agent's getting ready to send Spellbent out to various publishers, and with luck one of them will snap it right up, and with a little more luck it won't end up with a standard jean butt cover. ;-)

However, in the meantime, he said it would be okay for me to post the first chapter of the book, which is entitled "A Simple Storm-Calling".

I should warn those with delicate sensibilities that the chapter contains occasional bad language, het sex, drug references, violence, grisly imagery, and a ferret.

So if you're okay with the occasional f-bomb, etc., go on to Spellbent: Chapter One, Part 1

I'm okay with the sex and profanity, but ferrets!? Think of the children!

Whoops, sorry (she said insincerely *g*). I do tend to go for the obvious.

I'm okay with sex, profanity, and ferrets, but I imagine you wanted me to twitch uncontrollably when I read "Las drogas es verboten". Certainly sounds authentic for a certain kind of person, though, and tells me a lot about Jessie.

She likes to play with words, she's not an expert by any means, she's got a sense of humor about her shortcomings, and she's quickly resourceful in a situation where her haves don't match her needs.

...how'd I do?

I'm looking forward to it. Oh, and by the by, AJ is reviewing ILDB for SFReader. Got an email earlier, and I quote:

"Lucy is friggin hysterical. This book needs to get some attention, it's awesome."

So I'm expecting a decent review. :)

Oh, and you REALLY impressed AJ:

I guess it's whatever pulls the reader in for a closer look. I can see how the "butt covers" can be pretty sad from the author's point of view. Half of a T&A book so to speak.

I can't wait to sit down this weekend and read this. I finished Gary's Mr. Hands earlier this week and loved it.

Any word on what kind of workshops might be offered at ConText this year?

het sex = heterosexual sex (as opposed to gay sex). :)
