A new review of SPARKS AND SHADOWS at Hellnotes
Hellnotes just posted their review of my collection Sparks and Shadows. Nickolas Cook writes:

(T)his has to be, hands down, the best collection I've read since Joe Hill's 20th Century Ghosts. ... It's the same way I felt after reading Poppy Z. Brite, Skipp and Spector, Dan Simmons, and Caitlin Keirnan for the first time. There's a passionate urgency to her words, a sly sexuality, a downright filthy come hither-ness (I mean that in a good way, by the way) to her stories. ... Her stories are, at times, unrelenting, fiery, and angry. At other times, she sways you into a state of serenity. But at all times, she tells a damned good story.

I've been pushing this book at everybody I know. You know I loved it. I read it all in one sitting - couldn't put it down. And I've read it more than once. Congrats on well-deserved praise.

Heh. After she finished Installing Linux on a Dead Badger, the reviewer from SFreader.com (review hasn't posted yet) told the editor there that she wanted to have my babies.

At least Nick didn't go that far ;-)

Likewise, I'm certainly flattered that my work's been compared to yours.

FearZone compared the collection to Jack Ketchum, Robert Heinlein, and Mary Shelley, which to me is an even odder brew.

That is some powerful good stuff there, Miss Lucy. I knew it this summer by the lake when I read it, and I'm thrilled that someone in a position to help your sales knows it, too.

(It was really hard for me to hand your book over to my sister to read - I didn't want it to get lost. That's always a symptom of me falling in love with a book.)

Congratulations, and let me just say to the publishing community: WTH took you so long?
