Snow pictures
No kidding, we've been under a blizzard warning the past two days.

Things don't look so bad from the front steps; however you can't tell at all that I shoveled yesterday afternoon after I couldn't make it into work because early school/work closings turned all the nearby roads into parking lots:

But the back of the house is another story due to drifting. Here's the eye-level view from the kitchen window:

And here's the view out onto our back deck:

No, kitty, you can't go out that way.

I could get out of my garage, but couldn't make it from the alley to the street. I feel bad for the kids who made it to work.

Puppies love it though.

We got nailed in Lincoln with a couple inches the other day but it should be soon gone with the sun and temps rising again today. I'm definitely thinking snowbird action for next year during January and February.

Eeek!

I've never seen that much snow up close and personal.

Neither have I 'til now! The most I've seen on the ground has been like 10 inches. I think they don't plow the roads here -- I guess we just have to wait for the neighborhood SUVs to tamp things down a bit (my little car does fine in slush, but if the snow goes up to the bumper, that's a no-go).

Wow. My parents are in Westerville, and they've been sending me pictures -- impressive! It's snowing in Chicago right now, but hopefully it won't get that bad.

Luckily our house is situated in such a way that we don't get any big drifts against the doors. The dogs do love it though, our husky has been outside all and I can't get her to come in. Me, I'm wishing I had a fireplace and some hot cocoa.

Wow! We have probably 8-10 inches here, and more the closer you get to Cincinnati. They are saying between 10-15 inches total.

That is some serious snowin'. Having remained in Texas and not traveled much (at least not this time of year), I can't say I've seen that much of it.

Oh, and I see an LOLcat in your future...

Ours isn't that bad, which is good-I need to get back up there again to work on my papers at my parents'. o_O;;

I must be dense, because I didn't realize you were in Columbus. :P

Looks like we got a -bit- less down here in Dayton, but we are still under blizzard warning, and it is still snowing hard (actually almost a white out at the moment), so who knows what we'll have when we're done!

That system was supposed to hit Indy with 8-10, but we got away with 2. Hope you and Gary are stocked with supplies! Hungry kitties have been known to turn on their owners...

Yeah, I'm finding the amount of snow out there kind of amazing. There are a park bench and a picnic table in the open space out behind my building. The snow is up to the bottom of the picnic table and the park bench is covered up to the seat.

I'm trying to decide if I'm brave enough to hike around and take pictures or not. I might just sink in and not be found til spring...

Yeah, it looks about like that here. I can't take pics because my camera is in my car... and the garage is not connected to the building, so it's stuck there.

When I lived in Pittsburgh and they had half this much snow, they just shut everything down and waited for it to end to even get started plowing. Being from Cleveland, that just seems crazy.

But I've seen much worse than this when I lived in Cleveland. 10-12 years ago we had a massive storm that dropped 68 inches in a week in the snowbelt. I do have pics of that! here. At least we still have power!

Sympathies! I'm _so_ glad we didn't get it this time (we've had about 92 inches of snow this year, shattering the record 74-ish and demolishing the seasonal average of 54). But I am sorry you got hammered with it ... it's time for this winter to be done already. The kitty looks quite enthralled.

Stay safe!

I managed to escape Granville before it got too bad, but I still had to drive around a semi that was half off the road and blocking both lanes of 23N. Good luck with the shoveling and all.

I had a front mounted "nose fin" sculpted out of snow on my S-10. Much wierdness. I just finished two hours worth of driveway shoveling. I can now leave, but strangely enough my desire to do so has completely fled.

Pay per view?

Wow. That's some serious snow going on there. Hopefully people's bosses were understanding about the need to stay home and shovel (or wait for things to stop snowing so that the shovels could come out.)

We've had a few big blizzards and can honestly say I'm gratefull this year was not so bad.
I used to have to drive or at least try (never did make it in in 96 they shut the state down an hour after I made it back home from that attempt) when I worked in the hospitals. Now that I'm with the insurance biz I don't risk my life as it is not life and death and no one to relieve from a horrid shift anymore.
Stay in and enjoy obviously there is no getting out.
Think of all the other times you have wished you could just stay home and do X or just spend time with each other.
Enjoy a FREE day.

It reminds me of the years I lived in Findlay. One blizzard, the whole town shut down for four days. We could only get in and out of the house by using the doors on the landing halfway to the second floor (doors 10 feet up the side of the house, with nothing outside them until the snow piled up).
