Books-in-progress updates
Okay, I've finished the content for Chimeric Machines, barring a few revision tweaks based on feedback from first readers. But my goal was to have the content essentially set before Mo*Con, and I'm on target.

After I get back from the con, I have to start hitting the Spellbent sequels ... Book 2 will be due January 15, 2009, and Book 3 will be due August 15, 2009. That's 7 months for each, which should be enough time, but I best not dilly-dally.

But the back-to-back novel deadlines also means that I won't be doing short fiction unless I'm invited to submit someplace.

In other news, my allergies are going berserk. I've done the Claritin vs. Zyrtec test, and Claritin has come out ahead, largely because Zyrtec knocks me the heck out. If I wanted to sleep all day, I'd just take Benadryl (cheap!). So, functionality FTW!

Yay books!

My allergies are insane this past week, too. Wonder what it is. Stupid trees!

I know the tree pollen gets me, but I'm thinking the grass isn't helping, either.

Sounds like you're going to be busy for the forseeable future, but I'd expect that's fine with you :D

Please let me know if you lovely folks would like to hang out sometime, when it's convenient for you. It's been a good while!

With you on the Zyrtec vs. Claritin test. Zyrtec worked for me years ago when I first got my cats, but no more - now it has to be loratidine. Occasionally I need to seasonally supplement this with Benadryl. During such times the Benadryl does not make me overly sleepy unless I have alcohol. I used to take Singulair, and it was great, but the increased infection frequency it causes in sinus and ear (necessitating two surgeries when infections weren't treatable through antibiotics) has stopped that.

Do you get any bad side effects mixing loratidine and benadryl?

re: surgeries: ack :(

Nope. I had flu-like allergies going on at the time even on the loratadine, so I was desperate. I did check with drugs.com's drug interaction checker beforehand (including all my other meds, of course), and avoided grapefruit juice.

I find Zyrtec works great - 'cause you can't sneeze when you're passed out!

Belated congrats on the book deal! Yeah, we just substitute Claritin for zyrtec at the hospital, so yay generics!
