On reviews ...

My husband got sorta-mocked on another board because he "likes everything".

No. There's plenty of stuff he doesn't like, same as me.

Thing is, we normally don't spend the time to write reviews of things that we fundamentally dislike.

I don't think this is a hard concept. If it's crap, why draw people's attention to it at all? Unless your main intent as a reviewer is to tear things apart for snarky sport, but that really isn't our thing, either.

Life is short: I want to know about -- and tell people about -- the good stuff.

The bad can go off in a corner and die on its own without my help.

(However, if you sent me a book, and I didn't review it, that doesn't mean I thought it was crap. It probably means I haven't read it yet. The thyroid thing seriously interfered with my ability to focus enough to read for more than a half-hour at a time. That's mostly fixed now, but I have a huge backlog of books as a result that I may or may not get through.)
